QUINCY, ILL. -- There are plenty of schools that have dismissed classes Tuesday and the snow is also keeping area road crews busy.

Many parts of the area got anywhere from three to six inches of snow overnight.

Quincy's City Engineer Jeff Steinkamp says the problem the city's facing is private snow removal contractors pushing snow from parking lots onto city streets. He asks that if private contractors have done this, that they go back and remove the snow from that area.

While the plows were hard at work throughout much of the day, dozens of kids took to the snow in South Park in Quincy.

"I was really excited when my mom told me it was a snow day," said Henry Vigor. "My favorite part of sledding is going really fast and probably getting snow in my face!"

The area faces a drop in temperatures as predicted lows are suppose to get in to the single digits Tuesday and Wednesday night.
