Building scheduled for renovation

A historic building in downtown Mt. Pleasant was damaged by fire on Tuesday morning.
MT. PLEASANT, IA. --
It is believed that the fire started in a second floor apartment of the building.

The building, which dates back to the 1860's was in the process of being renovated by the Mount Pleasant Main Street organization.

The group says the fire will not change it plans to renovate since the building was scheduled to be gutted anyway.

No injuries were reported in the fire. and the cause is still under investigation.
