It looks like the birth place of the unsinkable Molly Brown will stay above water at least for now.
Tuesdsay night, the Hannibal City Council voted to repair the historic Molly Brown house.
Terrell and Vicki Dempsey took the project over from the Marion County Historical Society in the late 1990's.
They poured thousands of dollars of their own money into it to restore it.
The couple donated the historic home to the city in 2007, only to see it fall into disrepair.
Terrell Dempsey said, "It's really disappointing that we gave it to the city, and in the course of a short time, they let the sump pump die, they locked the house up and let it start falling down again. Molly Brown is an extremely important person...not only was she instrumental in the Titanic sinking, but she was one of the first women in the U.S. To run for U.S. Congress in Colorado. She was a fascinating lady. She is somebody who's birthplace needs to be restored and it's a very important part of Hannibal's heritage."
The Hannibal city council also heard a second and final reading of an ordinance revising the governing structure of the Hannibal Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
The city council tabled that issue for two weeks.
The council wanted to give its members who proposed the ordinance time to sit down face to face with the current H-C-V-B board to discuss the issue.

Tuesday night, the Hannibal city council is expected to hear a second and final reading of an ordinance revising the governing structure of the Hannibal Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
The city would like more control of the Bureau's management and finances.
There are a total of eleven resolutions on the agenda.
A true sign of spring, the city will address a request from the Director of Parks and Recreation to pay for dredging at the Marina.
And Mayor Roy Hark is expected to ask for approval for a letter of support for the Quincy Hydropower project at Lock and Dam 21.
