HANNIBAL, MO. -- It's one of the largest gatherings of Democrats in Missouri, and it's happening this weekend in Hannibal.

Democrat Days kicked off at noon today and concludes tomorrow night.

It's at the Hannibal Inn on Market Street.

This year's keynote speaker is Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill.

We asked co-organizer John Yancey how this year will be different after Democrats lost badly in last fall's election.

"We feel like we've always been short of funds and in the last election we were sure short as for winning is concerned. So we think the emphasis has got to be on the future and how we can overcome some of the pitfalls of the past," say Yancey.

This year is the 40th anniversary of Democrat Days being held in Hannibal.
