KEOKUK, IOWA -- A local Keokuk bar will remain open despite noise complaints.

The Keokuk City Council renewed L-Treyns' Class C liquor license Thursday night on a 6-1 vote.

Beforehand, council member Ron Payne expressed opposition to the license renewal due to the number of noise complaints coming from the tavern. Payne also said L-Treyns' owner Larry Roberts hasn't worked with the city on rectifying the situation.

Council member Karole Smith said the Code Revision Committee is working on a noise ordinance and added "we cannot afford not to give a business a license.
