QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy Salvation Army Kroc Center is coming right along.

Last November, the media took a tour of the building and got a good idea of the general layout.

The media were invited back today for another tour, and now you get a really good idea of what the Kroc Center's going to look like.

Crews are hard at work on the Kroc Center between fourth and fifth streets at Broadway. Some work is going on outside, but most of it is happening inside. Last November, most of the work was the framing of the walls. Now the walls are up, some are being drywalled, and some are already finished. The spotlight of the Kroc Center will be here. It's the Beacon of Hope.

Operations Manager Chad Rodgers says, "It has 1000 different colored lights and many combinations to change it. Any particular event or program we have going on, we can have a color that associates with that."

The meaning behind the Beacon of Hope is it's a symbol of what the Kroc Center is to the community. It shines as a reminder of the Salvation Army's mission. The mission is showcased as soon as you come into the Kroc Center. It's the 499 seat auditorium where services will be held, but also concerts, conferences, and just about anything else. The Kroc Center is also a place for fun and exercise with a full size gymnasium, two levels of workout levels and a unique aquatic center.

Rodgers adds, "It has cortexes, a lazy river, 157 foot twisting water slide, a tot slide, geisers zero depth entry. It's a very family friendly facility."

There's also a rock climbing wall, several classrooms for Sunday school and other purposes, and a full size industrial kitchen. Not to mention a lot of top of the line, state of the art electronics. More than Tvs and computers.

Rodgers says, "It's reaching out, especially to the youth within our community. It's one of the things they expect. We want them here. We want them to be part of a very nurturing and very secure facility."

That facility is still on track to open this September.

A lot of the Kroc Center will be free and open to the public.

However, the exercise area and aquatic center will require a membership.

The Salvation Army plans on offering memberships this July or August.

People who buy them early will get a few extra perks as they will be considered Charter Members.

You may remember that we went on a tour of the KROC Center back in November of 2010.  We saw it before there were wall and windows and now we're excited to see how far it's come.
