MACOMB, ILL. -- In two weeks time, thousands of people will Race for the Cure in Peoria, Illinois.

Each person with a reason for fighting against breast cancer. One group in attendance will be from Bushnell, Illinois.

Jody Dahmm is a six year breast cancer survivor. Saturday, her family held a fundraiser, "Coffee for the Cure," for the Susan G. Coleman Foundation. Supporters at the day's event were able to participate in a 50/50 raffle and had the chance to win two lottery ticket wreaths and baskets donated by local vendors.

"There are so many people that find a lump and don't get it checked, and then it's too late.And breast cancer, if you catch it within the first two stages it's pretty much curable," said Dahmm.

"Once you have a family member, your risk factors go up, so it's helped me to learn what I need to do better, keep my check-ups up, get healthy, eat better," said Jennifer Lacy, Jody's daughter.

Jody will walk the one-mile walk in the May 7th race in Peoria.
