HANNIBAL, MO. -- Some work is being done to try and get Clemens Field in Hannibal ready to go for the start of the Hannibal Cavemen baseball season.

Right now, the co-owners of the team are at odds over who should be responsible for getting the field and the stadium ready for play.

In a story in the Hannibal Courier-Post, they spoke with Larry Owens who says the other co-owner of the team, Bob Hemond hasn't spoken to him since talks began about Owens selling his part of the team to an unidentified group.

“It’s just not safe for people or the players,” Owens told Courier-Post's Danny Henley. “Old ballparks take a little more attention than new ballparks I’m sure. You surely can’t show up, turn the lights on and play ball.”  During a visit to the ball park last week Owens said he found a number of maintenance items had yet to be addressed since the conclusion of the 2010 season.

The Cavemen are getting ready to start their third season in the Prospect League that also includes the Quincy Gems.
