QUINCY, ILL. -- Mail carriers in Tri-States picked up more than just letters and packages Saturday.
They collected bags of donated food.
The National Association for Letter Carriers puts on the Stamp out Hunger food drive every year.
It happens on the second Saturday of May .
Non-perishable foods were brought to Quincy, Camp Point, Hannibal, and Kahoka post offices.
The food gets loaded in the boxes, and taken to food pantries across the area.
George Meyer with the Quincy Postal Service says, "It's just a really good way to share what you have with others who are less fortunate. Just a good way to help out your fellow man."
This is the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
More than 10 thousand other cities across the country participate.
