LIMA, ILL. -- UPDATED: July 28 at 10:02 p.m.
KHQA confirmed with the Adams County Sheriff's Department around 9:45 PM Thursday night that the stretch of Highway 96 between Lima and Marceline that was shut down because of a multi-car rollover accident has been reopened.

Sheriff Brent Fischer has now told KHQA that the rollover accident began when the semi driver lost control of his truck and turned over.
The driver of the SUV then swerved to avoid a collision with the semi.

On the South side of the Thursday rollover accident, authorities are shutting down Highway 96 at 2450th Avenue where the Down on the Corner bar is located in Marceline.
The roadway will be shut down between Lima and Marceline for several hours.
The Illinois State Police are conducting an investigation as to what happened. Meanwhile, police will take statement from the drivers involved.
Sheriff Brent Fischer says it's very hard to determine what happened and they are not sure if the vehicles collided with one another or not.

Highway 96 between Lima and Marceline is closed due to a semi trailer truck accident.
A semi and an SUV were both involved, but details of how the accident happened are not available.
The driver of a Chevy Avalanche was air lifted to Blessing Hospital, and the driver of the semi was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A semi trailer truck has overturned on Highway 96 between Lima and Marceline.
