QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy parks may have looked a bit cleaner Saturday.

That's thanks to five local churches who volunteered their time to pick up around the city, while hoping to spread God's word. In all, 45 members began early in the morning taking on Washington Park, Clat Adams Park and Reservoir Park. Some raked leaves, while others collected trash and moved wood chips throughout the parks.

This group tries to get out in the community every couple of months to remind people they're there for them.

"Just to serve God and serve others and let people know God is in our hearts when we do this, not to have our names shown but have God shown," said Kaitlyn Beth, a member of the Vermont Street United Methodist Church in Quincy.

The group also invited the community back to Vermont Street United Methodist Church Saturday evening for a free barbeque and worship service.
