CAUTION GRAPHIC PHOTOS: Ginger has been adopted by a loving family and we got to see her Friday. She's doing just fine!

QUINCY, ILL. -- Here's an update on that dog that was found wandering near 8th and Ellington Roads in Adams County earlier this month with a collar embedded around its neck.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a 25 hundred dollar reward  for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the abuse and neglect of that dog.

The german short haired pointer was emaciated and had a severe open wound when it was found.

Now named Ginger, she's been adopted by a loving family and is on the road to recovery. With the medical attention Ginger received, she is going to be just fine.

"Today she is healing very, very nicely. There's no infection going on around the neck ... the tissue is filling in," said Adams County Animal Warden Jenny Benjamin. "She's come a long way as far as greeting people. Her tail is still tucked, but she's coming up to people more."

Sally Westerhoff with the Quincy Humane Society tells us there is a correlation between bad economy and stress some pet owners feel.

"People are having a lot more problems feeding their animals because of the economy," said Westerhoff.

If you have any information about Ginger's case you are asked to call Benjamin at (217) 277-2145.
