BOWLING GREEN, MO. -- A Tri-State social service agency is cutting back ... preparing for the a big loss in funding.

According to a press release, the North East Community Action Corporation is consolidating operations in four of its county service centers and is cutting staff in half.

The agency offers a variety of financial help to people, including utility assistance.

The cuts impact the Monroe, Ralls, Lewis and Shelby county service centers.

NECAC says cuts had to be made now in response to uncertain funding levels from Congress.

Congress has not yet passed its budget.

Officials say staff and hours could be restored if federal dollars come through.
