QUINCY, ILL. -- More than 750 Kohls shoppers hit the ground running Friday morning as the floodgates opened to a fast and furious day of bargain shopping at midnight.

But perhaps the most difficult part of this post holiday tradition, is playing the waiting game in the cold.

For some people Black Friday began right after their turkey dinner or before. Some hard-core shoppers were in line here at Best Buy since Thursday afternoon.

While folks normally get up early for Black Friday, this year some never went to bed. Most stores offered early openings like Kohls, spreading out Black Friday shopping. That also meant lighter crowds during the morning hours ... compared to years past.

While saving some dough is important to customers, its perhaps even more important for stores looking to make the kick off to the Christmas shopping season really count.
