QUINCY, ILL. -- Some scary news as you head out on the roads this weekend.
More and more drivers are texting behind the wheel, despite all the criticism and statewide bans.
A national survey from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that about half of American drivers between 21 and 24 say they've thumbed messages or e-mailed from behind the driver's seat.
Many say they don't think it's dangerous when they do it -- only when others do.

Now National Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is getting involved. He wants Congress to pass a federal law banning texting while driving instead of leaving it up to individual states.
It is against the law to text and drive in Illinois and Iowa.
