QUINCY, IL. -- The city of Quincy is making a U-turn when it comes to replacing some traffic control units.

The Quincy Herald Whig reports the City Council has agreed to rebid a project that would replace traffic controller units at five intersections.

The project was put out to bid a few weeks ago, but all the bids came back too high.

City Engineer Jeff Steinkamp says there are 14 outdated controllers in the city that have parts that are no longer made, so if they break down, it's a scramble to fix them.

Hopes are to replace those 14 within the current budget year.
