WEST QUINCY, MO. -- Police blocked off Highway 24 in West Quincy Thursday afternoon so crews could remove remnants of the barge that's been on dry land for more than 18 years.

The structure is one of the most visible reminders of the flood of 1993.

It was originally meant to replace the Mississippi Grill restaurant, but that plan fell through.

The barge has been sitting at this location since the flood.
