The city of Bushnell has agreed to pay $40 thousand dollars to settle a case with the Illinois Commerce Commission.
This after a gas leak that led to a house explosion in November 2009.
According to Tri-State Public Radio, the ICC investigation determined a contractor damaged utility lines and allowed natural gas to flow into the sewer and into the house, which was then accidently ignited.
Fortunately no one was injured.
The ICC alleged the city did not respond properly and cited it for nine violations.
The Illinois Commerce Commission has yet to approve the settlement.

The city of Bushnell is moving toward a financial settlement to pay the Illinois Commerce Commission over a number of gas utility violations stemming from a Nov. 25, 2009, gas explosion that leveled this home on Washington Street.
The McDonough County Voice reports that the city council agreed on a financial settlement to offer the ICC in a closed session meeting this week.
The mayor says releasing that dollar amount would be premature at this point.
