KNOX COUNTY, MO. -- A former Knox County Deputy is accused of selling evidence and stolen property on eBay.

The Edina Sentinel reports that Howard Smith had also been charged but not convicted of theft in the past.

Adams County court records show that Smith pleaded not guilty to theft charges in 1993.

He was ordered to pay a 137 dollar fine and serve three months probation after which the charge was dismissed.

The newspaper reports that Smith has been terminated from employment.

A request for investigation has been turned over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Division of Drug and Crime Control.
