JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Republican Second District State Representative Zach Wyatt is looking to impeach Missouri Circuit Judge Russell E. Steele.

Judge Steele is a circuit judge in the Second Judicial Circuit of Missouri, situated in Adair, Knox and Lewis Counties.

Wyatt has sponsored House Resolution 333 which invokes the Articles of Impeachment against Judge Steele. If passed, the Resolution would call for Judge Steele to stand trial before the Missouri Supreme Court.

This Resolution is a response to accusation of breach of the Code of Judicial Conduct by Judge Steele. Previous requests for investigation have been made through the Committee on Commission on Retirement, Removal and Discipline of Judges. As these requests have not resulted in any subsequent disciplinary action, Representative Wyatt and fellow sponsors feel sponsorship of House Resolution 333 is directed to invoking the proper use of the system of Checks and Balances provided for by both the constitution of the United States of America and the constitution of the State of Missouri.

“When I was sworn into office, I took an oath to defend and uphold our constitution. I believe through this Resolution I am doing so, while working for the best interest of my constituents”, said Wyatt when discussing the Resolution.
