A Minnesota couple suspected in a string of multi-state, multi-department store thefts were arrested by Hannibal police Thursday morning.

John Benson, 46, of Randolph, Minn. and Sonya Henderson, 28, of Austin, Minn. were arrested about 11:50 a.m. at the Walmart at 3650 Stardust Drive in Hannibal.

Loss prevention employees followed the pair as they concealed several items in their clothing and in their shopping cart, a Hannibal Police Department press release says.

Officers located multiple flat screen televisions, entertainment systems, several boxes of diapers, laminate flooring, multiple bottles of detergent, bedding, various items of clothing and a number of other items believed to be stolen from stores from Walmarts, Menards, Home Depots, Lowes and Targets from Minnesota to Missouri.

Both are charged with felony theft and receiving stolen property and being held on $50,000 cash bonds at the Marion County Jail.
