LEE COUNTY, IOWA -- A Van Buren County logger has been fined for destroying an bald eagle's nest last year.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service cited Orvin Yoder of Bonaparte for cutting down a tree with a nest in August.

Eagle enthusiasts first noticed the tree and nest were missing in September.

Yoder told officials he didn't see the nest because of leaves blocked his view.

The good news - the pair of *then* homeless eagles have "re-nested" in a tree only 100 yards away.
