HANNIBAL, MO. -- The Northeast Community Action Corporation announced that it will recieve additional funding through the Energy Crisis Intervention Program.
This comes after funding from the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program dwindled down to almost nothing,
NECAC officials said that they're expecting to recieve more than $400,000 to help people pay their utility bills. The money should be able to cover applications through the end of March.
NECAC began the winter heating season on October 1, 2011 with more than a $1 million dollars to help with utility assistance.
The social-service agency says more than 10,000 people in the 12-county service region in northeast Missouri have applied for utility assistance funding.
