Fatal plane crash in Audrain County

AUDRAIN COUNTY, MO. -- The FAA is investigating the scene of a fatal plane crash in Audrain County, Missouri.

KWWR Radio reports a single-engine plane crash early Sunday afternoon killed the pilot and left a passenger in serious condition at an area hospital. 

The pilot has been identified as David Dickherber of Mexico.

The passenger as Dickherber's wife Mary Ann.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol it appears Dickherber and his wife were trying to take off from a grass runway when the plane clipped some nearby trees.

Both were seriously injured in the crash and both flown to a Columbia hospital where Dave Dickherber died a little while later.
