QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy police now have a contract.
Monday night, the Quincy City Council approved an agreement with the Police Benevolent and Protective Association labor union.
Patrol officers and sergeants at the Quincy Police Department have been working without a contract for about a year.
Chief Rob Copley said the package is similar to the Quincy Fire Department's contract.
It offers a 2 percent raise during the first year; a 2 1/2 percent raise for the second and a 3 percent raise for the third year.
The contract also includes a change in insurance.
"I'm very happy that we're done and very appreciative of all the hard work on both sides," Chief Copley said.
Chief Copley says the deal also adds step-up pay for a sergeant who is acting as a lieutenant.
