SCHUYLER COUNTY, ILL. -- A Rushville man is in jail on multiple charges of criminal sexual assault with a female teenager.
The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office arrested James R. Surratt, 63, on Thursday.
The Illinois Department of Child and Family Services indicated Surratt allegedly had sexual contact with the victim on multiple dates during the last 8 years. The last incident had taken place in the last week.
Surratt is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He remains at the Schuyler County Jail awaiting bond on his felony charges. Surratt is scheduled to appear in court on May 2, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. for his first appearance.
Schuyler County investigators and the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services will continue to investigate the allegations in this case.
