QUINCY, ILL. -- Students who attend John Wood Community College next year can expect to pay a little more.

The Board of Trustees approved the tuition increase of $3 per credit hour for the 2012-2013 academic year. The vote increased the per-credit-hour tuition to $123 for in-district students and $233 for out-of-district students.

John Wood President John Letts said the move was made to help the college balance its budget.

Last year the trustees increased tuition by $3. A college spokeswoman said that the last time the college didn't raise tuition was in 1998.
