HANNIBAL, MO. -- What would a library be without books? An empty building. That's the status of the new Roland Library on the campus of Hannibal-LaGrange University, but not for long.

HLGU held a dedication ceremony Friday at the library. Students and staff formed a human chain to move the first 100 books to the building. Many thousand more items need to be moved. That's scheduled for May 12, 18 and 19. The university is looking for volunteers to help stock the shelves.

The new 20,000 square-foot library is named in honor of Dr. Earl Roland, who was a 1941 graduate of the college. Besides your basic library needs, some extra features include audio and video editing stations, a fireplace lounge, a coffee corner and children's reading area.
