Traffic down to one lane beginning Monday

QUINCY, ILL. -- Traffic on Maine Street in Quincy might get a little more hectic than usual beginning Monday morning.

Maine Street between 30th and 36th Streets will be reduced to one lane from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The lane closure will allow construction crews to work on replacing the sidewalks, curbs, gutters and driveways in conjunction with the Safe Routes to School Program.

The construction is scheduled to continue through August 24.

Motorists are asked to drive carefully near the construction work zone and to use an alternative route if possible during the construction.

With construction starting on Maine St. in Quincy, do you have a strategy to pick up your kids? Tell us how things go for you ... even without construction, traffic during pick up and drop off is usually quite an experience. We'd love to hear about it below or on our Facebook page here.
