Hannibal Val Kilmer event canceled

HANNIBAL, MO. -- Actor Val Kilmer will not make an appearance in Hannibal Wednesday night citing personal reasons.

The Tombstone and Top Gun actor was scheduled to speak at sold-out event titled "An Evening with Val Kilmer" Wednesday night at the The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum.

Kilmer was scheduled to talk about the film he is developing about the relationship between Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science.

The museum executive director Cindy Lovell said officials there learned that Kilmer pulled out of the event at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The museum sold more than 100 tickets to the event. Anyone wishing to receive a refund should call 573-221-9010, ext. 401.
