HANNIBAL, MO. -- Monday's Pink Ribbon Golf Tournament in Hannibal to raise money in the fight against cancer took on special meaning this year.

This year, as the players teed off and later sat down to dinner, they paid tribute to Sarah Roth, who died of breast cancer last fall. Sarah was one of the original organizers of the tournament seven years ago.

“We're celebrating Sarah's life and we're raising money for other people who continue the fight against breast cancer,” organizer Andrea Scott said.

Friends and family told the crowd about a hospice house that should open this fall in Sarah's memory (see related story).

KHQA's Sarah Deien emceed the event.

The tournament is expected to raise about $15,000 for the American Cancer Society.
