FORT MADISON, IOWA -- A fire in Fort Madison late Wednesday afternoon is being blamed on kids playing with a lighter.

The house at 1903 Avenue O was completely destroyed.

Houses on both sides of the one that was set on fire were also damaged.

Fire crews were on the scene for about three and a half hours. No injuries were reported.

Neighbors say the house that was destroyed in the fire had been vacant for several years.
