QUINCY, ILL. -- The Adams County Chapter of the American Red Cross is celebrating the success of its ninth annual fund drive.

The Heroes for American Red Cross campaign raised more than 57 thousand dollars, seven thousand over its goal.

It's the most money the organization has ever raised through its heroes' fund raiser.

More than 130 individuals, organizations, schools, and businesses donated to the campaign.

All the money raised will fund Red Cross services in Adams, Brown and Pike counties.

"We certainly, for the programs and services here that we're providing, the numbers are up in quite a few of our services," Pam Shaffer from the American Red Cross said. "So this will really help us to provide those services."

In addition to raising money, the Red Cross responded to 24 disasters, assisted with 73 military emergency communications and collected almost four thousand whole blood units as of March 31st.

Adding to the Red Cross celebration is the arrival of its new Emergency Response Vehicle.

It arrived from Miami, Florida last week and has already been used twice.

The vehicle is a used 2002 model.

The Red Cross had its old truck since 1993. It had more than 130 thousand miles.

This ERV is just one of 300 vehicles strategically placed by the Red Cross around the country.

The Tri-States Red Cross was chosen because our area was vulnerable to disasters like flooding and tornados.
