HANNIBAL, MO. -- A Columbia, Mo. man is in jail Thursday after robbing a Hannibal Walmart, police in Hannibal said.

Michael Walters, 42, is charged with robbery after leaving the store at 3650 Stardust Lane without paying for several items.

Employees tried to stop him as he left the store, but Walters reached into his clothing and claimed he had a gun, a press release said.

Walters was taken into custody after investigators arrived and saw him coming out of a wooded area near the Walmart.
