Martinsburg man killed in Ralls County collision

CENTER, MO. -- A Martinsburg, Mo. man died from injuries suffered in a collision at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, in rural Ralls County, Mo.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident took place at an intersection on Route H, five miles north of Center, Mo. The collision occurred when Paul G. Knipfel, 47, was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am and failed to stop at the intersection, driving into the path of a 2009 Mazda III driven by Tammy K. Relford, 50, of New London, Mo. The Mazda struck the driver’s side of the Pontiac.

Knipfel was pronounced dead at 11:38 a.m. at Hannibal Regional Hospital, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Relford suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital. She was using a seat belt at the time of the accident. Knipfel was not using a seat belt.
