HANNIBAL, MO. -- Fireworks will light up the sky along Hannibal's riverfront Wednesday night after months of uncertainty.

The Hannibal Jaycees stepped away from the project this year when they feared they wouldn't be able to raise the needed 15 thousand dollars for the show.

That's when a new group called the Hannibal Community Promotions Committee stepped in. The committee not only raised the money needed but also planned a pre-show to the fireworks show at Nipper Park.

"We'll have the Color Guard and the National Anthem sung. We're working on possibly some extra stuff for our veterans. There'll be patriotic music playing with the fireworks. It's going to be a really neat deal. We're really excited about it. Despite the heat, I think it's going to be a fantastic evening," Joel Booth, president of the Hannibal Community Promotions Committee said.

Hannibal's fireworks show will kick off at dusk at Nipper Park.

"We're having a little bit more boom this year in the show. Not as long of a show, but more boom. So hopefully, that will satisfy everyone," Booth said.

KHQA is a proud sponsor of the event.

There will also be a cooling station at the corner of Main and Hill Streets, provided by the Marion County Ambulance District.

If you plan to stay indoors for the evening, you can listen to the show live by tuning in to KHBL Radio on 96.9. For a list of what's taking place in Hannibal this week, click here.
