HANNIBAL, MO. -- A homeless woman in Hannibal is behind bars Monday after damaging a patrol car over the weekend.

The rear window of the vehicle had been shattered and the trunk lid was scraped and dented.

25-year-old Victoria E. Norell damaged the patrol car while it was parked in the police department parking lot Saturday, July 14. A short time later she walked into the police department lobby and confessed to damaging the vehicle.

Norell said that she was homeless and believed that causing the damage would result in a place to spend the night.

Police say she was caught on camera in the act.

Norell was arrested and placed on a 24 hour hold in the Marion County Jail.
