QUINCY, ILL. -- The United Way of Adams County unveiled its fundraising goal Thursday.
John Letts, president of John Wood Community College, is the chairman of the organization's 76th campaign. He spoke to nearly 100 volunteers and community members at Thursday's announcement at the JWCC Student Activity Center.
"We will reach our goals by working together, by working with dozens of other agencies, hundreds of companies and thousands of citizens across Adams County," Letts said. "We may be unique apart, but we are united together."
The organization hopes to raise at least $1,138,000. The campaign raised $1,127,000 last year surpassing what had been a $1.11 million goal.
Campaign Vice Chairman Jerry Jackson, Vice President of Facility Development at Blessing Health System, introduced the team of 13 Loaned Executives designated by their companies to share the United Way message and recruit people for the Live United movement at employee meetings during the campaign. They include:
Caly Cramsey, Bank of Quincy; Keri Mast, Blessing Health System; Diana Williams and Chris Wilson, Blue Cross Blue Shield; Kelly Seifert, First Bankers Trust; Joyce Woodruff, John Wood Community College; Carol Sowers, KHQA; Gerry Dutkowski and Heath Richmond, Knapheide Manufacturing Company; Ashley Harrison, Mercantile Bank; Kathy Cramsey, Prince Agri Products; Matt Bergman, Quincy University; and Ericka Snider, State Street Bank.
“The campaign team has spent the past three months strategizing and setting a goal for the campaign that continues to invite and engage the community to work together on shared priorities,” Letts said. “We set this unique goal by talking with people at workplaces who know the needs and available resources of our community … [and] analyzed unique aspects of the campaign before setting division goals. The goal for the 2012 United Way campaign is $1,138,000.”
