KEOKUK, IOWA -- A Tri-State nursing home was fined 500 dollars for one of it's staffers being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

According to the Des Moines RegisterLexington Square administrator Susan Grant was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when she gave morphine to a resident -- Grant is also a registered nurse.

There was no registered nurse on duty licensed to provide the prescribed painkiller, so Grant was called.

She mentioned she had a couple of beers with her dinner.

Grant continues to serve as administrator of the home.

No action has been taken by the Iowa Board of Nursing Home Administrators.
