QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy Police department conducted an investigation into how a Quincy man was shot in the hand and have now charged him with filing a false police report.

Jeffrey Pollock went to Blessing Hospital on August 26 after he claimed a man shot him. The investigation concluded this was not the case.

Pollock was arrested Monday for filing a false police report, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and reckless discharge of a firearm.

A .22 caliber rifle believed to have been used in the incident was recovered in Riverview Park.

Hospital officials originally called police to report the shooting. Pollock told police that a man approached him at 5th and College about 3 a.m. and wanted to buy drugs. He then said that the two men struggled and he was shot in the hand.
