Quincy's Smoke on the River champion goes to Gilly's

This year's grand champion award went to Gilly's BBQ.

QUINCY, ILL. -- The smell of barbeque filled the air this weekend down on the Quincy riverfront.

The Quincy Exchange Club held its 6th annual Smoke on the River at Kesler Park Friday and Saturday.

Thirty-nine teams from all over the Midwest participated in the competition, showing off their best sauces and recipes. They cooked ribs, pork shoulder, chicken, and beef brisket.

This year's grand champion award went to Gilly's BBQ. The team won prize money and an invitation to Kansas City, Missouri for the "American Royal" World Series of Barbecue.
