LA GRANGE, MO. -- On Sunday, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office arrested Joseph Budig, 36, and Crystal Pratt, 38, both of rural La Grange, Missouri.

The two northeast Missouri residents were arrested over the weekend for reportedly abusing a child.

The two are charged with a felony count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigators from the sheriff's office, the La Grange Police Department, Missouri Children's Division and Lewis County Juvenile Office allege Budig and Pratt forced a girl under the age of 17 to stand in a corner for extended periods of time and struck her legs with a belt and wooden rod.

The arrest stems from an investigation conducted in August of 2012.

Both suspects are free after posting bond.
