QUINCY, ILL. -- Some residents on Quincy's northwest side want to feel a little bit safer these days.
That's why they turned out to this neighborhood watch meeting in Riverview Park Monday night.
Organizer Cheryl Hobson said she would like to see these meetings happen on a regular basis.
She said there has been a lot of vandalism, thefts and drugs popping up in the neighborhood since she first moved here in 2006.
"There are a lot of older people in the neighborhood that I know have been vandalized and just want to step up and try to get people to work together like it used to be in the neighborhood," Hobson said. "You could run out and do things. The kids could play, and it was a safe place. We'd like to see that happening again."
Neighborhood Watch is a citizen's involvement program where citizens, in cooperation with local law enforcement, participate in the detection and prevention of crime.
