WEVER, IOWA -- Southeast Iowa residents will have another chance to air their concerns over a new fertilizer plant.

The plant's construction was announced earlier this year, but that hasn't set well with some residents.

Some have raised concerns about emissions and air quality at the the Iowa Fertilizer Plant scheduled to be built near Wever.

The Lee County supervisors along with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hold a public forum at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Grace Bible Church, 3526 175th St., Wever. The public is welcome to attend.

The Egypt-based Orascom Construction Industries, or OCI, announced plans to build a new fertilizer production plant in Wever.

The state approved more than $110 million in tax breaks and other incentives for what would be the largest single capital investment ever in Iowa.

The project also is expected to create 2,500 construction jobs over the next three years.

OCI is one of Egypt's largest corporations employing more than 72,000 people in 35 countries.

The company owns nitrogen fertilizer plants in Egypt, the Netherlands, the United States, and Algeria.
