Iowa couple jailed on meth charges

FORT MADISON, IOWA -- A Fort Madison, Iowa couple was jailed this week on numerous drug charges related to methamphetamine manufacturing.

Randy Joe Townsend, 45, and Debi Elaine Townsend, 54, of the 2400 block of 245th Avenue were arrested Tuesday.

According to the Lee County Narcotics Task Force:

Randy Townsend is charged with conspiracy to manufacture more than five grams of meth while in possession of a firearm, maintaining a drug house and possession of paraphernalia. He faces up to 53 years in state prison if convicted.

Debi Townsend is charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth while in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of meth as a multiple offender, maintaining a drug house and a 24-hour pseudoephedrine purchase violation. She faces up to 164 years in state prison if convicted.

The arrest stems from an investigation into pseudoephedrine purchases made by the couple which led to a search warrant executed at their home.
