COLUMBIA, MO. -- A former Hannibal man and Boy Scout leader has been indicted for posing as a woman on Facebook to trick scouts into sending pornographic photos online.

Ian Burow, 23, of Columbia Missouri is believed to have deceived six minors and used a seventh for the production of child pornography.

Burow was charged in an eight-count indictment on Nov. 7, which had been sealed until his arrest and first court appearance on Tuesday.

Burow knew the minors through his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America and has been indicted by a federal grand jury for producing, receiving and distributing child pornography.

Under the alias "Sarah McGee," Burow allegedly communicated with the boys and convinced them to send him pornographic images of themselves, which he then distributed online.

Burow will be held in federal custody without bond until his trial on Feb. 11, 2013, as ordered by the court Thursday.

Seven of the counts are for receiving and distributing child pornography between Dec. 27, 2010, and Aug. 1, 2011. The eighth count is for producing child pornography on Oct. 14, 2011.

A forfeiture allegation, which would require Burow to forfeit to the government any property used to commit the alleged offenses was included in the indictment. This would include an Apple iPad, iPod Touch, Blackberry Curve, laptop computer and two external hard drives, plus other items.

The mandatory minimum sentence if convicted of the production charge is 15 years in federal prison without parole. The other charges each have a minimum mandatory sentence of five years in federal prison without parole.

KRCG reporter Ashley Crockett contributed to this report.
