Fire erupted inside the house at 116 Ross St.

PALMYRA, MO. -- A Palmyra woman is recovering at University Hospital in Columbia this weekend after a Saturday house fire. A nurse on staff Monday said she is in fair condition.
Darlene Von Thun was rescued from her home Saturday morning, after a fire erupted inside the house at 116 Ross St.
A fire marshal on scene said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
First responders were called to the home at 8:49 a.m. Volunteer firefighters, Devin Nelson and Lt. Mark Heidbreder found Von Thun on the floor of her bedroom and managed to get her out safely.
She was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital in stable condition and later air lifted to Columbia, Mo. for more specialized care.
Palmyra Fire Chief Gary Crane said his crews extinguished the fire within fifteen minutes of their arrival. Crane says we may never know the exact cause of the fire, but he believes the fire may have started near the stove.
