KEOKUK, IOWA -- According to Stacy Weber with the Lee County Sheriff's Office an arrest is expected as a result of the duplex fire at 316 S. 11th St. on Sunday.

Lab results are pending in the continued investigation and an arrest is expected.

Assistant Fire Chief JW Guy said one man was badly burned in the fire. He was transported to Keokuk Area Hospital Sunday afternoon.

No names have been released.

Firefighters contained the fire to a second story bedroom. Chief Guy said he could not confirm or deny the afternoon fire was related to methamphetamine. An Iowa State Fire Marshal and a handful of firefighters remained on scene Sunday evening.

Chief Guy told KHQA that the two-story duplex already faced poor conditions. One side of the home was not occupied at the time of the fire.

A call to all off-duty firefighters brought the total number on site to 19. Chief Guy said they managed to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes of their arrival.
