QUINCY, ILL. -- As the new year approaches, many of you might be thinking about your New Years resolution.

A lot of resolutions will probably be to get healthier.

One way you can do that is to be proactive and get screened for heart diseases.

Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care will host a presentation on the importance of health screenings.

Dr. Monty Karoll says it's important to get screened early, especially if heart disease is common in your family.

"Typically starting at age 50 is a good time to screen but if your mother or father, or brother or sister had one of these diseases, then to start about 10 years before they had the problem would be a good idea. So, it could be as early as the 30s or 40s depending on what your family history would be," Dr. Karoll said.

You can attend Dr. Karoll's presentation at Bickford.

It's at 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday and is free.

All you have to do is call Joe or Andrea at 217-228-0800 for more information or to RSVP.
