LOUISIANA, MO. -- A jury trial scheduled Friday for a man who allegedly set fire to a Louisiana home on Independence Day because his wife would not watch fireworks with him has now been moved to February 14th.
42-year-old Russell Ray Darnell of Bowling Green is charged with felony second degree arson for allegedly starting a fire in a home at Seventh and North Carolina streets on July Fourth.
Crews were called to the scene just after the end of the annual fireworks show along the riverfront.
There were no injuries.
According to a police probable cause statement, Darnell allegedly told an officer that he set a blanket on fire in the living room of the residence, where his wife and children were living.
Darnell purportedly told the officer that he did so because his wife would not go watch fireworks with him or answer his telephone calls.
The trial could be delayed because other cases also are on Friday’s court docket.
